Your employee portal
For employees with an Arvello login: download your payslips, see your pay and pension contributions, ask to change your details and claim back expenses and trips.
If your employer runs payroll in Arvello, they can give you your own login. You get an email invitation; accept it, creating an Arvello account on the way if you don't have one, and you land on your own pay page. This page explains what you'll find there. If you run payroll and want to give someone a login, see Employee logins.
Your sidebar has a You section with four pages: My pay, My expenses, My trips and My details. They show only what's yours. You don't see the company's books, other people's pay or anything else in the company; a link to another page says you don't have access. Your profile and sign-out are in the account menu as usual.
If your pages say "Your login isn't linked to a person", your login isn't connected to you on your employer's People list. Ask whoever runs payroll to give your person there a login.
My pay
My pay shows the pay on your payslips, one year at a time. When you've been paid in more than one year, buttons at the top switch between them.
The figures at the top are the year's totals:
- Gross pay for the year
- Income tax, with the basic exemption used under it
- II pillar pension, with your unemployment insurance under it
- Net pay, what reached your bank account
Below them is each payment: Pay for (the month the pay is for), Paid on, Gross, Withheld (income tax, unemployment insurance and II pillar together) and Net, with a Payslip link to download the PDF. A payment that hasn't been made yet shows its planned date with a Payday badge. Only pay your employer has approved appears here, never a draft.
The year is the year the money was paid to you, not the month the pay was for: a December salary paid on 5 January counts in January's year. That's how the pay appears on your income tax return in e-MTA, the Tax and Customs Board's portal. Pay with a Payday badge hasn't been paid yet: it counts in the year of its payday until it is, so if it's paid in a later year, it moves there. What your employer pays on top of your gross pay (social tax and their share of unemployment insurance) isn't shown: those aren't your figures.
Your payslips still arrive by email as before; the portal is somewhere to find them again.
Pension
The Pension section shows the II pillar contribution rate your employer has on file and how much was withheld for your II pillar in the year. You change your rate, or join or leave the II pillar, at pensionikeskus.ee, not with your employer.
My details
My details shows what your employer has on file: your name, your personal ID code (partly hidden), email, bank account, address in your country of residence (if you don't live in Estonia), payslip language, position, the date you've been employed since, your II pillar contribution and whether the basic exemption is applied.
Asking for a change
Under Ask for a change you can ask to change your email, bank account (IBAN), address in your country of residence (if you don't live in Estonia) and payslip language. Enter the new values and press Send for approval. Nothing changes until someone who runs payroll approves it, and your salary keeps going to the account on file until then. They may check a new bank account with you by phone or in person first.
While a request is waiting, you can replace it with Replace my request or take it back with Withdraw request. Earlier requests lists what you sent, what was decided and any reason given.
Applying for the basic exemption
Your employer deducts the basic exemption (maksuvaba tulu) from your pay only on a signed application from you, and only one payer can apply it. You can ask for any amount from 0 up to the monthly maximum: €700 a month in 2026, or up to €776 from the calendar year you reach old-age pension age. 0 means it isn't applied. Only one payer can apply your basic exemption: if another employer already applies it, ask for 0 here or don't apply.
If you get a pension before pension age from Sotsiaalkindlustusamet, you can split the exemption between them and your employer, as long as the two applications together don't exceed the monthly maximum (Income Tax Act § 42(2³)).
If you've reached pension age: from that calendar year, your basic exemption, up to €776 a month, is deducted first from your state pension (by Sotsiaalkindlustusamet) and then from any taxable II pillar payments (§ 42(1³) and (2¹)). Ask your employer only for what's still left: with a €676 state pension and no taxable II pillar payments, for example, ask for €100. Tax-free II pillar payments don't count. With neither, you can ask for the full €776; if they come to €776 or more, ask for 0. The form starts at what your employer applies now, and the application says the amount is only the part not deducted from your pension.
Under Basic exemption, enter the Amount a month (€).
Download the application gives you a PDF in your payslip language, dated today. It asks your employer to apply the amount from the 1st of this month, or to stop applying the exemption if you entered 0. An application for more than 0 also confirms that you haven't applied with another payer. Sign it in DigiDoc with your ID card, Mobile-ID or Smart-ID, or print it, sign it and scan it.
Choose the signed file (a DigiDoc container, a PDF or a photo) and press Send to payroll.
Until it's decided, the application shows as waiting for payroll, and you can withdraw it. Accepting it changes the exemption on pay calculated from then on; pay already calculated stays as it is. You can send a new application at any time to raise or lower the amount from the current month; sending one while another is still waiting replaces the waiting one. The exemption for months already past can't be changed here.
My expenses
Receipts your employer asked for
If your employer needs the receipt for a card or bank payment, they can ask you for it. You get an email, and the payment appears under Receipts your employer asked for with its date, who it was paid to, the amount and their note. Press Upload receipt and choose the file (a PDF or a photo, up to 10 MB). It's attached to the payment in the company's books, and the row shows Received.
Expense claims
Paid for something for work with your own money? Claim it back under Expense claims with New claim:
- Date: when you paid, not in the future
- Amount (€): what you paid
- Where: the shop or service
- What it was for
- Receipts: a PDF or photo of each receipt, up to 10 MB each and at most 10 files
Press Submit claim. The claim shows Waiting for approval until your employer books it, then Approved, and Paid once they've paid you back by bank transfer. If they reject it, you see Rejected with their reason. You can withdraw a claim with Withdraw while it's waiting and they haven't started booking it.
My trips
Business trips abroad
For a work trip abroad, New trip under Business trips abroad submits it to your employer. Enter the destination country (and city if you like), the purpose, the start and end dates with your departure time on the first day and arrival time back on the last, and confirm that the destination is at least 50 km from the town or village where you normally work. The daily allowance is paid only for such a destination.
Arvello works out your daily allowance from the dates and times, counting your earlier trips towards the monthly limit, and shows it in the list. The trip shows Waiting for approval until your employer approves it, then Approved, and Paid once they've paid the allowance. They can correct the details before approving, and approving works the allowance out again from the dates and times, so it can change. You can withdraw a trip while it's waiting. The rules behind the allowance are in Business trips & daily allowances.
My car and trip log
If you drive your own car for work, your employer can pay you mileage for it, based on a trip log.
- Add my car: enter the registration plate and, if you like, the make and model. It can be a car you own or one you have the right to use.
- Log a trip for every work trip: the car, the date, the odometer reading at the start (filled in from your last trip) and at the end, what the trip was for and, if you like, the destination. The distance is worked out from the readings. Two trips can't cover the same kilometres.
Your employer makes the monthly mileage claim from your log and approves it; you see each trip's state: In a claim, Claim approved or Paid. You can delete a trip until it's in a claim. The rates and limits are in Vehicles & mileage.
Notifications
When payroll approves or rejects a change of details, a basic exemption application, an expense claim or a business trip, you get an email and a notification under the bell, with any reason they gave. The email goes to the address your employer has on file.
